Hi everyone,

Well I am slowly being able to publish more articles. However, the recent ones have been posted at EzineArticles. So to make sure you are able to see them, I added a new web page under my Articles Tab with a second RSS feed pulling in all of the articles. The latest articles I was able to write about include the healing powers of aromatherapy, and another on why organic soy candle wax is ideal for making aromatherapy candles.  For anyone who is interested in making their own soy wax massage candles, I think you should read the article about organic soy candle wax. In my opinion, you will be wanting to make them as pure as possible, since you will be using the warm soy candle wax on naked skin. Also, certain essential oils are really strong, so you need to develop your knowledge about using them especially when you are making aromatherapy scented soy candles, or when you are making soy wax massage candles.

Scented Soy Candles Tips on How to Make Candles for Beginners

I found a really nice article authored by Matt Droves today. It discusses the positive qualities of making scented soy candles, a mini history on the background of soy candle wax, he even discussed melting temperatures of the soy candle wax to preserve the white color of the soy wax, which I commend him for. He then goes on to discuss the additional of scents.

Forgive me. I had to move and haven’t even had access to the internet. Moving was AWFUL, but I am getting settled, and hope to get back to writing more articles, and making more videos on how to make scented soy candles ASAP.

When you are looking to buy your candle scents, and you are interested in having a scented soy candle that will have a long lasting fragrance it’s important to know - not all candle scents have been created equal.

Not to bash any candle fragrance sellers, but buyers do your homework. Beware the seller who is buying top quality fragrances and cutting them. Don’t hesitate to ask what % is fragrance. What are they cutting them with? In fact, I want to know, why are they cutting their fragrance scents down in the first place.

Double Wick Scented Soy Candle How to Video

How To Make Double Wicked Scented Soy Candles Video

When it gets right down to it, the larger container candles need more candle wick. This is necessary to provide the appropriate amount of heat required to create a melt pool that fully covers the candle surface. If you do not have the correct wick sizes, or quantites, tunneling will occur because the full surface of the wax is not consumed as the wax is burned.

So on that note, I made this double wicked scented soy candle using a tangerine fragrance, and turned it into a video. Because wick placement correct wick placement is so important, I showed you one of the ways that I use the wicks in combination with a dowel rod, and a glue gun to secure the candle wicks exactly where I want them before I pour the soy candle wax.

Can An Additive Make Soy Wax Last Longer?

Help! Is there anything natural, or any type of additive that can be mixed into  candle wax to make it last longer? What about a soy blend wax, or palm wax?  I do not want to buy a lot of candle wax, because it is so expensive. Will adding fabric softener,  lotions, or shampoo increase the volume of the candle wax, and still burn?

Comments will be welcome, but I felt I should make a blog post in response to Shirley’s question posted under the blog comments instead of responding to her via email.

 Candle safety is a primary consideration.

Personally, I would not consider it safe to add any additive to a candle wax product you intend to burn, unless it is approved by the National Candle Association.   Read the rest of this entry »
